Ryan Teten, the College of Arts and Sciences dean, resigned Friday morning. Kristen Majocha, the senior vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, sent an announcement to UNK employees.

“Dr. Ryan Teten has decided to resign his position as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences to better support his family during a difficult time,” Majocha said in an email.

Before coming to UNK, Teten served as associate dean and professor of political science at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Teten was selected as a UNK dean in February 2019, and he assumed his duties in the fall.

Paul Twigg, a biology professor, will take over as an interim dean with a two-year contract until the position can be filled. Twigg joined the UNK faculty in 1992 and has served as associate dean since 2018. He was also the interim department chair for Music, Theatre and Dance.
