Welcome back, Lopers.
Our team has been hard at work these last few weeks to get The Antelope up and running again. While summer break was refreshing and rejuvenating, we are excited to see each other again and get back to doing what we love.
There is a lot our team is looking forward to this year.
Many of our staff members are seniors and have been a part of The Antelope for a while. Since much of our staff is familiar and comfortable with our process, we’ve created a solid routine for producing quality content for the campus. Despite this comfort, we are hoping to challenge ourselves and seek new opportunities.
There are many ways we plan to do this.
We want to increase our reach on campus. At The Antelope, our goal is to serve our community. As students ourselves, we do what we do because we are rooting for our peers and the rest of the UNK community. If we can provide something, even just for one Loper, by what we do at The Antelope, we will have done our job.
We know the value of what we do and don’t take our job lightly. As believers in our mission and our product, we want all students to benefit from that.
Our team wants to try new ideas to engage with our fellow Lopers. We always welcome ideas and feedback from our community, because without them, we wouldn’t be here. Our inbox is always open, and Lopers are invited to stop by our newsroom in the Calvin T. Ryan Library as well.
Apart from getting our physical newspaper into more people’s hands, we also want to grow our reach through our digital platforms. Over the last few years, we’ve looked for new ways to use our social media. Our team has suggested and implemented more creative ideas, and we hope to do more of that. We plan to create more video content and potentially even expand onto new platforms.
Last fall, we dipped our toes into the newsletter platform. Our newsletter editor created a few in the fall, and we have since been working on the logistics for getting our newsletter to students. The Antelope staff is looking forward to getting that fully running.
Another goal of ours is to welcome new students to our team. With many of our editors graduating next May, we hope to build up a younger staff and help them cultivate success for The Antelope for years to come.
As we prepare to get back into the swing of producing our weekly paper, we look forward to connecting with and serving our fellow students once again. We are always rooting for our fellow Lopers, and this year is no exception. While this season of life can be stressful and chaotic, it can also be exciting and memorable.
Have a great year.
