Preliminary results are in. The Antelope is a finalist for weekly newspaper of the year for the College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards. The Antelope is competing in division II amongst colleges with 3,000-9,999 students. Other finalists include Drake University and Rice University.
Editions from 2024-25 were submitted for weekly newspaper of the year.
The Antelope is also a finalist in the editorial division (3,000-9,999 enrollment) for their editorial titled “Disability services on the second floor is a bad decision.” The editorial was written by Jenna Heinz, editor-in-chief of The Antelope.
Over 3,000 entries were submitted into the Pinnacles from schools of all sizes across the country. The College Media Association is one of two major media organizations for collegiate journalists.
Winners will be announced at MediaFest25, the largest media convention for college journalists, in October. The Antelope will travel to Washington D.C. to hear the results, compete in other competitions and learn from media professionals. The convention is sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists, the College Media Association and the Associated Collegiate Press.
