UNK is about to experience love like never before, proving that love is beyond physical attraction. The Netflix reality TV dating show “Love is Blind” has chosen UNK as the location to be their first-ever college dating experiment.
Students may not realize that their soulmate is sitting in their classes, passing by on campus or even studying in the same building.
“We wanted to bring Love is Blind to a college campus setting where students are already searching for meaningful connections,” said Ella Vator, the show’s producer, in an exclusive interview. “We think that students can be more successful if they find their soulmate who supports them through their college journey and beyond. UNK is the perfect location because of their small campus community that fosters close relationships.”
UNK student contestants will enter enclosed pods where they will meet and get to know other students through conversation and building emotional connections. Contestants won’t be allowed to see each other’s faces until the reveal, which happens after the proposal. Engaged couples will then move into the University’s Antelope Hall to further their connection, battling the reality of college life and testing their relationship.
Can love survive the stress of late nights studying, group projects, campus activities, dating apps, low finances and parties? This experiment will put it to the test.
The lucky contestants who find their soulmate and make it past the engagement and struggles of college life will be rewarded with an all-inclusive honeymoon trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.
All students from UNK from all majors, organizations and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, single and ready for the possibility of finding love.
Jennifer Martinez, the casting director, stressed the importance of being genuinely ready for love.
“This opportunity is for students who are serious about finding love and are open to a one-of-a-kind dating experience,” Martinez said. “If we find out you are in a relationship, we will bring your partner onto the show and you will be exposed as a cheater on national television.”
Students are already eager to take part in this dating experiment, including Brock Lee, one of the first confirmed student contestants.
“I’m so excited to be a part of this experiment,” Lee said. “I’m ready for love. Either way, I’ll find my soulmate or I’ll have a good story to tell at parties. It’s a win-win for me.”
This experiment is set to take place during the fall 2025 semester, giving students the peak back-to-school experience of finding love. Applications are open but spots are limited. Don’t miss out on the chance to find your soulmate.
Is love really blind? UNK students will find out.
