Element 30, a new housing project by UNK, is projected to open in April.

This is only the beginning of the new University Village.

“We are just in the first phase, which in our first phase is a 27 and 37 unit, two flats which have 10 apartments each and four townhomes,” said Polly Collins, property manager. “ Once we get completed with Phase One we will look into Phase Two which is mainly going to be more flats and a townhome.”

What makes Element 30 stand out is its impressive lineup of amenities that offer residents the choice of a swimming pool, clubhouse, fitness center and restaurants. The goal is to create a comfortable, inclusive space for residents.

Element 30 is not only open to UNK students but to the community as a whole.

“It’s really open to anyone,” said Michael Christen, director of Business Services. “It’s not limited to students or faculty. Anyone in the community can take residence there. It’s an exciting development for us.”

For those who are interested in living at Element 30, the application can be completed online, or a paper application can be picked up. There is a fee of $20 for applying as background checks are required. The residence also focuses on safety. Security cameras are installed inside and around the exterior of the buildings.

“We are a key fob entry, so that fob gets you into the building, and then gets you into your apartment,” Collins said.

The impressive housing project is still a work in progress, but many members of the UNK community are excited about the new addition.
