Last week, Earl Simmons, better known as DMX, died from a heart attack. It’s believed that the cause of the heart attack was an overdose. DMX has talked about his struggle with addiction throughout the years.

DMX was a very popular American rapper in the 90s and had many billboard hits. He was known for his very unique raspy voice that made his music stand out.

His songs were popular in the 90s and used in modern-day movies. For example, “X gon Give it to Ya” was the theme song of the blockbuster movie “Deadpool.”

DMX was much more than just another American rapper. He was an influence on the younger generation. His songs were the life of the party, and his verses spoke to those going through hard times.

DMX’s Family issued the following statement to the press.

“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle, and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized.”

A public memorial will be held April 24 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in New York. A private service will take place the next day.
