The UNK football team has been put under NCAA probation due to violations of NCAA rules under former head coach Josh Lynn. The violations occurred in the fall of 2021 and 2022 where Lynn and two assistant coaches put together recruiting inducements providing airfare to six prospective student athletes so they could partake in preseason practice and enroll in classes. The coaches used university money to pay for one-way airfare, transportation and provided lodging to some of the recruits. UNK is under probation until Jan. 28, 2027 and must pay a $3,744 fine. They also are restricted on the total numberĀ of official paid visits in the program to a total of 83 over the two-year period. There is also vacation of team and individual records from 2021 and 2022. UNK loses all eight wins from 2022 and five of their 10 from 2021. Those do not include the playoff games from 2021. The final penalty includes a two-year show-cause order. More information available next week.
