LPAC organized its annual Fame Talent Show on March 3 at the Nebraskan Student Union. There were 14 performers total: four groups and 10 individual acts.
“UNK has a lot of talented people, and it’s nice to have a platform to showcase those talents,’’ said Michael Frandolig, a UNK sophomore and participant. “I was nervous, but the crowd reception was good and helped me a lot.”
“Fame talent show has always been a great opportunity to display unique talents that students in UNK possess, and we are lucky enough to have the resources to help them provide this opportunity,” said Carolyn Zamora, an LPAC performing arts committee chair.
There were three judges – each representing a different part of UNK – including student body president Noah Limbach.
The event was separated into two different categories: group and individual. Money prizes were awarded to the top three performers in each category.
“All the performances were top notch, and it was hard for judges to come to a final conclusion,” said Zoie Jacobsen, another LPAC performing arts committee chair.
After taking some time, the judges finally decided the winners for the event.
For the group category, Akira Hamada and Pauline Escobar took first place with a performance of “Cardzas” by Vittorio Monti on piano and violin. Sisters Hannah and Rebekah Peterson and couple Macy Brown and Blake Welch, were given second and third place respectively.
Rebekah Sweeney won first place in the individual category with her rendition of the song “Pulled” from “The Addams Family Musical.” Second and third position went to Laura Konz and Cassie Brown respectively.
