“Deadpool & Wolverine” has been a highly anticipated movie for many fans of the Marvel franchise. Since being released in late July, it has become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, the second highest-grossing of this year and obtained $1.26 billion at the box office.
The movie is still in theaters at the time of this review.
Ryan Reynolds continues his role as the merc with a mouth, Deadpool, alongside returning Hugh Jackman. Jackman reprises his iconic role as Wolverine, which he hasn’t played since 2017. Fans were eager to hear of Hugh Jackman’s involvement with the film as many thought he would never play this character again. However, he has not skipped a beat in continuing to play the role he’s most known for.
This will be Jackman’s eleventh reprisal of his Wolverine role.
Deadpool and Wolverine follows alongside its previous films with its comedy, action-packed and fan service moments throughout. Not only that, but this movie may be the gate for Deadpool and Wolverine to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which many fans have been waiting for. It has not failed in delivering and pleasing both casual and hardcore fans.
It truly felt like it was meant for fans to enjoy every single moment packed into the film.
The movie had many incredible sequences that showed off how well the choreography in fights still holds well for this franchise. Many CGI uses do not lack compared to previous films done by Marvel earlier and last year such as “Thor: Love and Thunder” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” The dialogue continues to create laughter for viewers, and the dynamic between the two actors felt natural.
The ending leaves a lot of possibilities open down the line for this franchise to expand further with different stories and new characters. However, it also feels as if this can be a very satisfying end to the Deadpool franchise and truly depends on how one interrupts the closing act of this film. Nevertheless, it leaves so many questions to be answered, and many will hope to see everyone come back in some form.
With how big the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, it is likely these characters will have big roles again.
This film has left many wanting more and waiting to see what Marvel will create next. I highly recommend going to see the film and getting the full experience in theaters. Whether someone is really into Marvel or perhaps knows just these characters, one will not be disappointed in this superhero film. Deadpool and Wolverine have left their mark this year and will be talked about for quite some time.
