The most viral game on TikTok right now has its players fuming and stressed. “Overcooked” is a chaotic kitchen-based game that simulates what it’s like to be in a high-passed kitchen.
The Onion Kingdom is in trouble. Only the best chefs can save it. Take the journey through each brutal and bizarre kitchen to beat an ancient edible evil that cursed the land.
Overcooked is a multiplayer video game that can be played on multiple different platforms with the most popular being Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, X and S and Microsoft Windows. The objective of the game is to cook and serve as many orders as possible before the bells ring. Beware, the kitchen is tight and chaotic, requiring the highest level of communication to complete orders. You have to be quick because you wouldn’t want an angry customer storming out or a fire breaking out in your kitchen. You can earn up to three stars depending on how many customers leave your kitchen happy.
My roommate and I have played a handful of video games in the past. We enjoy playing them together in our free time, but this goes far beyond anything that we have ever played before.
“The game is absolute chaos and playing it with only two people isn’t efficient,” said Lexi Moes, a senior Exercise Science major. “It’s fun. Chaos. Absolute chaos.”
The more players you have, the better. As you get further into the game, the levels become much harder with more tasks needing to be done. Items are placed sporadically all over the kitchen making it increasingly harder. Having more chefs in the kitchen helps to complete all the tasks faster. Be careful, the extra hands may get more work done, but it increases your chances of running into each other and adds more stress to the game.
This is such a fun game to play and a must-have on friend or family game nights. The graphics are quirky and fun, leaving you with the feeling of childhood nostalgia. I would recommend this game to anyone. It also helps you learn how to work in teams and the importance of communication. It feels like the chaos of working in an actual kitchen.
Go out and gather the top chefs in the area to see if you and your team can save the Onion Kingdom for your next game night.
