UNKPD has been made aware of a burglary that occurred on Saturday morning, December 11, 2021, between 6:45 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., in a residence hall on the UNK campus. At the time, the suspect was wearing a black hoodie and black pants. Please note that the investigation is ongoing.
Although unlawful entries into occupied rooms are very rare, the UNKPD wants to remind you of precautions you should take to keep yourself and your valuables safe:
- Residents should not prop interior or exterior doors at any time.
- Make sure your building doors secure behind you and never let someone you do not know into the residence hall.
- Residents should keep their room doors locked at all times, even when in the room or only going down the hall for a few minutes.
- Residents should close their windows when leaving rooms, even for short periods of time.
- If you return to your room and it appears that entry has been made, please do not enter. Contact UNKPD at 308-865-8911 from your cell phone or from the safety of a neighbor’s room.
- Try not to touch anything so that you don’t disturb evidence that may be important to a police investigation.
- At no time should you confront someone in the room or the building, contact UNKPD at
308-865-8911.
