Dan Osborn is not a run-of-the-mill candidate. He has been working hard and has gathered a lot of support recently because his campaign means something to Nebraskans.
As an Independent, Osborn was required to petition to get his name on the ballot. That meant going to parades, recruiting volunteers and gathering support. His campaign collected three times the amount of signatures required because Osborn was determined to prove his campaign was popular.
Osborn has been to 170 public events since the beginning of his campaign and has talked to hundreds of Nebraskans discussing the issues facing the working class.
This fact is important to him, as he led a successful strike against Kellogg’s in 2021.
Osborn said working-class issues should not be partisan. During that strike, he talked to Republican leaders such as Rep. Don Bacon and former Gov. Pete Ricketts.
Osborn has not, is not, and will not take donations from corporations. He is proud of the fact that his average donation is $35 and has received donations from both Democrats and Republicans alike, who see the value in him.
As Osborn has said on multiple occasions, this campaign is the longest job interview ever. He is asking for a job to represent Nebraskans that he has proven to have the qualifications and confidence for.
For one, Osborn has served in the Navy and the National Guard. After serving the country, he worked as an industrial mechanic at Kellogg’s and joined the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union 50G. After becoming president of the union, Osborn confidently led a successful strike, earning his fellow union members a fair contract.
Now, Osborn is proving himself again during the campaign. Despite the attacks from Sen.Deb Fischer’s campaign, he has his eyes forward. Osborn has invited Fischer to debate on several occasions but she has backed out many times. She has claimed he is a liar and will just make things up, but if this were the case, it would be very easy to prove in a debate.
Fischer has claimed Osborn is secretly a Democrat, but this is not the case. The Democratic Party wanted him to campaign under them, but he refused. It would’ve been much easier to campaign under the Democratic party, but Osborn knows what it means to work.
Opponents of Osborn also claim that he loves Bernie Sanders. Osborn once retweeted Sanders – three years ago during the strike.
Osborn may not have all the answers, but he strives to represent Nebraska, which is more than what Fischer can claim. Fischer should be able to run on her accomplishments in Congress, but instead all she resorts to is lying and mudslinging. For example, Fischer claims that Osborn supports late-term abortions and is backed by George Soros. Both of these claims are blatantly false.
Osborn is worth voting for because it is obvious he has done the work, is doing the work and will continue to work for Nebraskans. It is a campaign of the people, for the people, by the people. Osborn is exactly what Nebraska needs and deserves.
