A water main broke on campus Monday morning, affecting the Memorial Student Affairs Building, Calvin T. Ryan Library and Randall Hall. The break in the 6-inch water line, which spans from 9th Avenue east of campus to University Drive to the west, impacted approximately 150 students and several employees.
Water services were unavailable in the Memorial Student Affairs Building and the Calvin T. Ryan Library.
The first and second floors in Randall Hall had limited water pressure, but sinks and restrooms could still be used. The third floor had no water pressure and showers were unavailable. Showers and restrooms in Mantor Hall, which is connected to Randall Hall, were available for use.
UNK facilities staff and City of Kearney employees located the break and assessed the damage Monday. Lines were flushed and service was fully restored late Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
